Exodus 18:9-12 King James Version (KJV)
9 And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORDhad done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.
10 And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.
11 Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.
12 And Jethro, Moses' father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father in law before God.

Exodus 18:9-12 New Century Version (NCV)

9 Jethro was very happy to hear all the good things the LORD had done for Israel when he had saved them from the Egyptians. 10 He said, “Praise the LORD. He has saved you from the Egyptians and their king, and he has saved the people from the power of the Egyptians. 11 Now I know the LORD is greater than all gods, because he did this to those who looked down on Israel.” 12 Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, gave a whole burnt offering and other sacrifices to God. Aaron and all the elders of Israel came to Moses’ father-in-law to eat the holy meal together before God.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

9 Jethro was glad at the work the Lord had did, him giving credit to the Lord for what had been done may have been because of the influence of Moses.

10 H praises the Lord. At this point nobody over threw Egypt. Nobody could at this time break free from Egypt but God opened the door and made it happen and Egypt would never be as strong again.

11 Jethro commits only to the Lord because of what happened although we see his belief and many gods so he doesn’t get it fully yet. We don’t have to get it fully as long as we commit to the Lord.

12 Jethro was a priest so he knew how to offer sacrifices but this is the first we see him doing and it is to the Lord. This was to cleanse Israel but also to praise and honor God. We need to be right with God by having Christ and turning from our sins and following Him. We also need to praise Him and fellowship with each other.
